Lost my work after 12 years in the factory.. i live in a small town and its not easy to get a new job when the city only have a population at 12000. My work moved to Iceland because of its cheaper to produce the product over there. 80 ppl lost their jobs in my hometown... Was i scared?? yeah.... Now i work only what i can get.. mostly on 3 month contracts. I get my food and can pay my bills... but i cant buy me a home or a new car. But i know at the end its gonna be alright. I am Norwegian Cowboy, and I fight every day. I never give up.

Thank you so much for this video and Phillip Coleman for writing it. I worked at this Goodyear facility as did my husband. We both lost our jobs. Just before the official closing in September, my husband was deployed to the middle east. Now when he comes home, he won't have a job and most jobs, if any will already be taken. Now 7 months after, a lot of our friends have had to move away. It's devastating to live here and see this happening. I watch the video and see my friends in it. I miss them very much. It's frightening to think of what the next 7 months will bring :(

I was struck by the immense power of this song the very first time I heard it. In October I was laid of from a job I loved and worked for 17 years. That was a tough day for me. On my way home that morning Cost of Livin' came on. At that moment that song became ingrained in my soul and has helped me work through this.

    Thanks Ronnie

I can relate to this video, I lost my job of 20 years, got a job making a 1/3 of what I made, took a year to find a job, all my savings, 401 is now gone, the cost of living is going up but our wages are not, this song is so true, great song.

How ironic that my favorite song has become such a part of my life. I've been employed for a major retail store for 14+ years and found out that my job on the signing and pricing team has been eliminated. I loved my job and co-workers. I guess the new management has decided that lower prices are the way to go. I do understand this theory, but feel that my "team" (3 girls with over 39+ years between us ) could have been offered more than part-time (20 hours per week). So now I join the ranks of unenmployed, no health benifits, sleepless nights, wondering if bills will get paid. Sure didn't think I would be in this predicament at 53 years old.

Hi Ronnie~ We live between Dallas/Ft. Worth, TX and my husband was laid off in October 2010. We are broke, and I had to return food to Walmart just to get gas money. YOUR SONG SAYS IT ALL. We have to pay over $400 for COBRA but we need it 'cause my husband has prostate cancer. I was an Executive, Marketing Manager & Editor at a FORBES COMPANY and was laid off in 1999 when my department was closed. Everytime I hear your song, I cry. I'm trying to download a photo, but I don't know how. I'll keep trying. Your fan in DFW, TEXAS. Jo jo.johnson17@yahoo.com

Having been laid off twice during this economy (and with a Master's Degree to boot!) is pretty scary. I can relate to how, in the song, he is willing to be so flexible. I don't want a hand out; I want a hand up. Fortunately, I just started a full time job in December with a very decent salary. So, I feel very blessed. My son, fortunately, is grown and he works 40 hours. I wish his the best in dealing with this life.

Thank you for Cost of Livin. It resonates with me as well as millions of Americans.

I believe that as Americans, we must demand goods made in USA. I recently paid $100 for 2 pair of jeans because I couln't find a single pair of jeans in the department store that were made in USA. I never paid that much for a pair of jeans before, but I think of it as an investment in America.

    Buy American!
